Hello Joolians! I very nearly missed writing about International Women's Day, a day where we should celebrate women from history, science, and just generally any of the important women in our lives (moms, grandmas,... ok maybe my sister too!).
Who is your favourite female figure from history?
Mine is the Greek Egyptain philosopher HYPATIA (Υπατία), who lived and taught mathematics in Alexandria, Egypt, 1600 years ago.
Had you heard of her? Why not? Do you think that there are any factors that have made women less prominent in history?
Can you name any famous Korean women? (Hint: Who is on your money?)
Do you think that is changing nowadays? For example, Hypatia has become popular and beloved that we named an exoplanet after her!
How else could we recognise the important women from history?
(PS - this is a famous drawing of Hypatia, but it doesn't date from the 5th century!)

Roy had some great points. He said that women didn't have as many opportunities in the past, that's why they aren't as prominent in history. Li Tai-young was Roy's woman from history - she was the first female lawyer in Korea! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Tai-young#:~:text=Lee%20Tai%2Dyoung%20(Korean%3A,rights%20all%20through%20her%20career.
