Here's what some of the Jool teachers think: Ben Teacher:
My favourite part is the EXPOSITION (aka the background information about the characters and setting in the beginning of the story) because it's crucial to get this part right so as to grab the reader's attention from the beginning, but not give too much away. If you give too much away too quickly, they won't be interested enough to keep reading; however, if you don't give them enough, they'll never finish the story! Therefore, creating a perfect EXPOSITION is the careful crafting of a believable and fascinating WORLD in which your story can take place.
Simone Teacher:
I like the beginning of the book the most. It sets the scene and introduces you to the protagonist. I can immediately tell if I would want to continue reading the book just by how much it can captivate my imagination early on!
Brian Teacher:
I like the BUILD-UP or “Rising Action” part of the story due to the tension it creates. At that point, you’ve gotten to know the characters and are invested in their journey, but you aren’t sure where it’s all leading and it allows you to speculate and let your imagination run wild. While the climax has all the action, the build-up has endless possibilities.
Lucy Teacher:
I like the resolution most because it’s usually the most emotional moment. Depending on the book, I might feel hugely relieved, or bawl my eyes out, or hate the writer’s guts, or feel triumphant! …And then comes the emptiness of having finished the book and missing this whole world. I even like that part. Oh the emotions. ❤️🔥
David Teacher:
I favour the plot twist. I never expected kind aunt Lucy to be the murderer!
Colm Teacher:
As I often struggle to understand what's going on in the story , I'm more drawn to the atmosphere and mood conveyed by the writer.
How about you guys?
Sophia Teacher again but this time I'm voicing Celine's thoughts on this one. "In my opinion my favourite part is getting to know the main characters in a magical book and the character progression. When they first start out at magical school they can't do the different spells, but this changes over the course of the book. In magical school some students can work with ice or fire or light magic. At first the main character fails but then they succeed at the crucial moment."
